This is a new interactive Number Talk PowerPoint designed to make math even more fun! Number Talk is a fantastic activity that helps kids develop their number sense and subitising skills. You can use this PowerPoint 2-3 times a week for about 10-15 minutes before starting your math lesson. The children love it, and it's a great way to get them focused and ready for learning.

The key idea behind Number Talk is that the children don’t use their whiteboards or paper. They need to solve the problems in their heads and share how they figured it out. For example, if they see three dots on a domino, they might say, "My answer is 3." If you ask them how they saw it, they could respond with something like, "Well, I saw 2 dots and then I noticed one more."

During the activity, you'll show a domino on the whiteboard, and the kids will count the dots they see. To make it more challenging, you can display the domino for 5 seconds and then flip it using the interactive PowerPoint. Just make sure to press the polka dot shape—clicking outside it won’t activate the interactive feature.

This PowerPoint includes:

  • An introduction to the hand signals used in Number Talk, which are a great way to see instantly who has an answer and who might be struggling.
  • 28 interactive sums.
  • A worksheet for the domino activity. You'll show the domino on the board for 5 seconds, then flip it around, and the kids will replicate what they saw on their worksheet.

It's a fun and engaging way to boost their math skills!
