Number Talk 1 - Ten & Twenty Frame

€4,99 €5,99

This is a new interactive maths PowerPoint for Number Talk. Number Talk is a brilliant activity to develop number sense and subitising skills. You can use this PowerPoint twice a week for ten minutes before you begin your maths lesson. The children really enjoy this activity and it is a great way to get them focused at the beginning of a maths lesson. The main idea with Number Talk is that they don't use their whiteboard or paper. They have to work out the sum in their heads and tell you how they saw it. For example, if they see three dots on the number frame, they might say my answer is 3 and if I ask how did you see it, they might say "Well I saw 2 and then I saw one more."

The teacher will show the ten frames on the whiteboard and then the children have to count how many they see. If you want to make it more challenging you can show the ten frames for 5 seconds and then press the interactive PowerPoint to turn it around. Make sure you press in the polka dot shape as outside this shape the interactive element will not work.

The great thing about these PowerPoint ten and twenty frames is that they are editable. Pull back the picture on the slideshow and then add or delete the dots on the ten frame or twenty frames. Make sure you press backspace after you add a dot.

In this PowerPoint there is:

  • An introduction to the hand signals that are used in Number Talk. These hand signals are a fantastic method to see instantly who has the answer or who may be struggling with the answer
  • Twenty interactive sums on the ten frame
  • Twenty interactive sums on the twenty frame
  • Worksheet for the ten frame - show the children the ten frame slide on the board for 5 seconds and then turn it around and they have to mirror what they saw on the whiteboard on their worksheet
  • Worksheet for the twenty frame
